The format for the readings remains the same – generally two invited guest readers followed by the ‘open’ reading which welcomes everyone. Friendly Street is an inspiration, a deadline, a social occasion, an information centre, a form of publishing and a performance art evening. This anthology represents a selection from those events. As editors we have been supplied with a rich source of material to select from, both from widely published and new writers.
