This twentieth birthday edition of the Friendly Street
Reader – a selection of the best poems read at the
Box Factory in 1995 – is dedicated to the late
John Bray.
I’m so pleased to be published in
the Reader
but why did they have to choose that one
and not the really good one
which really illustrates my talent?
And why did they only put one of mine in
and three of hers –
and how come he’s got four in and yet
he hasn't been to Friendly Street all year
and isn’t it funny how the Editors get heaps published
and geez don’t they crawl up to the regulars? . . .
From ‘It’s great when
you get published in the Reader’ by Judy Dally
