Sister Veronica Brody, speaking of the need
for love, said: ‘But we will have room for it perhaps when
we are able to walk around inside ourselves, having found a language
of the self and learned to live with our mistakes and to forgive
ourselves and one another. Poetic language makes this possible
and it may open out a different kind of political landscape.’
Pomegranates is Erica Jolly’s contribution
to that landscape.
Erica Jolly has been writing poems for over
thirty years, many of which have been published in newspapers,
journals and anthologies, including Friendly Street collections.
She has a keen sense of social justice, and many of her poems
address contemporary social concerns, such as economic and political
equity, women’s issues and Indigenous rights. This is her
first collection of poetry.
