The greatest responsibility and the greatest
privilege of parents is to nurture children in love and kindness,
understanding and empathy, to cherish and support, to protect
and encourage, allowing them to climb yet saving them from falling;
and to love the child unreservedly.
The alternative is unconscionable: that children’s
developing personalities are malformed and damaged to grow into
unhappiness for themselves, anxiety to those close to them and
vexation to the community. So be ever aware of the binary imperative
contained in responsibility and privilege; our children are our
future selves and their completeness rests with us.
