Adopting

Adopting a child can be a journey of great joy but the path is never without challenges. In Adopting, Australian parents recount their experiences of local and intercountry adoption. We share their hopes and doubts as they make their decision to adopt a child, travel with them across the world, share their apprehension and elation when first meeting their child, and return home to witness their early fumbling times as a new family.

Jane Turner Goldsmith is a psychologist and former panel member of the Australians Aiding Children Adoption Agency in South Australia. Jane has also published a novel, Poinciana, which was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers' Prize for Best First Book, short stories, poetry and a novel for children.
