For this week’s entry into our Poem of the Week blog series, I have chosen a work by author and poet Annette Marner. The feature today is a poem called ‘For The Fallen Women’ taken from the collection Women With Their Faces On Fire<\/a>.<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n

It feels apt to be focusing on Annette Marner<\/a> this week, because as I write this post her latest fiction release, the award-winning novel A New Name for the Colour Blue<\/em>,<\/a> is flying off the shelves and gaining wonderful reviews around the country.<\/p>\n
It made me very interested to discover other work by Annette Marner, so of course I decided to look at her poetry!<\/p>\n
And I am so glad I did.<\/p>\n
Not only is the writing within Women With Their Faces On Fire <\/a><\/em>evocative and vivid, this collection also explores some very hard-hitting themes. In fact, with it’s focus on the role of women now and throughout history, both on a personal level and a sweeping scale, this collection seems to share many ideas and themes with Annette’s newly released novel.<\/p>\n
It is clear both works touch on important matters close to the author’s heart.<\/p>\n
