Oh me oh my

Nature's LineLet the awards for Nature’s Line begin.

The shortlist for the very highly respected Ernest Scott Prize was announced today, and Janis Sheldrick’s amazing George Goyder biography is top of the list! With some spot on judges’ comments, too.

We’re incredibly proud of this book, and the mammoth amount of work, love and dedication put into by Janis.

We’re definitely expecting more from where this came from. Congratulations Janis!

  1. I have just finished reading ‘Natures Line’ by Janis Sheldrick
    What an enthralling read.

I have lived all my life on the edge of ‘Goyders line’ . My Great Great Grandfather first took up land at Mambray Creek in the later 1800s. I was born in 1959 and was 7 years old before I remember seeing water in the creek which ran through our property.
This week, there is water again – even though I live in Port Pirie I am keen to get out there and see it. It was such a dry, HOT Summer. We, who have an affinity with Mambray, no matter where we are now, always feel joyful when we hear that there is water in the creek, however fleeting.

Janis’s book was such an eye opener. I always thought Pirie’s streets were named for the Captain John Pirie’s family, I was surprised to learn that it was in fact Goyders family.

Thankyou Janis for this insightful book. Goyders is one of our States unsung heroes to whom all South Australians are indebted; whether we are aware of it or not.
