SUBMISSIONS

Wakefield Press is now open for submissions. Please ensure you read our submission guidelines carefully before you submit your manuscript for consideration.

We are currently not accepting children's picture books. All other works will be considered.

All manuscripts we receive will be read and assessed, but unfortunately we are only able to respond to successful authors. Wakefield Press is a small publisher and assessing manuscripts can take many weeks, so please be patient. However, if you do not receive a response from us within three months of submitting your work, please assume that we have decided not to pursue publication of your manuscripts. Please do not contact us to enquire about the status of your submission.

Electronic submissions are preferred. If you prefer to send a hard copy of your manuscript, please do not send an original copy of your manuscript, or original photographs. Unsuccessful hard copy submissions will be recycled unless an addressed and reply-paid envelope is included with your submission. Electronic submissions should be sent to submissions@wakefieldpress.com.au. Hard copy submissions should be addressed to the Submissions Editor and posted to Wakefield Press, 16 Rose Street, Mile End, SA 5031.

Please send your manuscript as either a Word document or PDF file in a black, standard font, double-spaced, with regular margins and numbered pages. Please ensure that your name and contact details are included on the first page of the manuscript. Completed manuscripts are strongly preferred, and proposals will not be accepted. For incomplete works, the first five chapters can be considered.

Along with the manuscript, please send a one-page covering letter including the following:

  • Your full name and contact details (email and phone number)
  • A brief author bio (no more than 150 words)
  • A brief synopsis of the manuscript (no more than 200 words)
  • An outline (no more than 300 words) of the genre of the work, its target market, any similar or competing works, and any special considerations (e.g. relevance to educational courses, etc.)
  • A total word count.
