Geoffrey Bishop
Geoffrey Bishop studied Agricultural Science at The University of Adelaide, South Australia, graduating with a PhD in Horticulture/Plant Pathology. He worked for some years with the Department for Environment and Heritage in bushland management and currently works in natural resources management. Historical research has been an abiding hobby for many years. He has a special interest in horticultural and wine industry history. In the latter area he has written histories of the Oenology Degree Course at Roseworthy Agricultural College (now part of The University of Adelaide) and histories for the Angove, Tolley, Norman and Taylor wine families. His other research and publications have concentrated on the East Torrens district of the Adelaide Hills where the Bishop family has operated fruit orchards since 1851. He is presently the President of the Historical Society of South Australia Inc. and past-President of the East Torrens Historical Society Inc.
