John Couper-Smartt
As a keen yachtsman, Dr John Couper-Smartt was naturally drawn to live in Port Adelaide when he emigrated from England in 1978. He was immediately fascinated by the history of the old harbour, its waterside city and its river, much of which is revealed by the names that its residents gave to their streets. Now that John has retired from his work as a psychiatrist, he can concentrate on his other writing projects that include a major revision of his definitive history of Port Adelaide (Tales from a Commodious Harbour, originally published in 2003) as well as historical fiction and screenplays.
