An Uncommon Dialogue is Debra Drake's gripping autobiographical account of two years in psychotherapy. Told as dialogue between Debra and her psychiatrist, and as dialogue with her mother and sister, it explores Debra's emotions following the sisters' prolonged sexual abuse as children, by their mother's sexual partners. Flashbacks provide background of previous unsuccessful therapy attempts, revealing that a successful therapeutic relationship needs to be one of trust.
