Franz Kempf 2

Thinking on paper, 1955-2002

Adam Dutkiewicz, Franz Kempf

Kempf's is not the art of a hopeful youngster, aimed desperately at the stars, but rather, it is stardust itself.' - Adam Dutkiewicz

'These are pictures to be contemplated, interrogated and deeply pondered. They are - even the tiniest of them - profound distillations of thought and feeling.' - Robert Smith

'Perhaps it is the apocalyptic mood of the new century which has made a demand on art to engage with and confront the issues of the present. An artist like Franz Kempf, now in his seventies, who has always been involved with these issues, is being recognised as a significant figure in the contemporary art movement.' - Sasha Grishin
